Luke Combs Gives Acoustic Performance Of Unreleased Song, ‘Tattoo On A Sunburn’

Luke Combs recently took to social media to share a clip of an unreleased song titled, “Tattoo On A Sunburn.”

The country singer plays his guitar and delivers a heartfelt, new take on a fading love story. It follows two characters who admit their love and then end up getting intoxicated at a tattoo shop. The girl ends up convincing her partner to get a tattoo of her name, which as Combs sings, “she didn’t have to work too hard to talk me into.”

The chorus suddenly starts and the narrative shifts. It explains that their love may have ended, but that the memories from the tattoo will never forget what they had.

Combs then asked his followers in the comments section if he would drop the new track. The song instantly drew the attention of his fans, who expressed their excitement for its release date.

“Absolutely, release it! It’s amazing!!,” one user wrote while another said, “you know that you really blast this one off the shelves so please put this one out there!.”

Jordan Davis, another country star, shared a positive response in the comments section.

Combs has already released many new songs throughout this landmark year. On June 24, he unveiled his latest full-length project, Growin’ Up, which debuted at No. 1, upon its release. He recently received a CMA win as Album of the Year by the CMA. During the 56th Annual CMA Awards, Combs was also crowned Entertainer of the Year for the second consecutive season.

“Man, what a week. It still hasn’t hit me and I ain’t sure it ever will. I’m just really thankful for the life I get to live and even more for the people in it. We are grateful to our family, our spouse, our team, the band and crew, as well as everyone else. None of this is possible without everything y’all do for us. You truly are the most important part of country music,” Luke Combs said on Instagram following his milestone wins.

With its debut at No.2 on the all-genre Billboard 200, this album secured Combs’ fourth Top 10 on that chart. Billboard reported at the time that this album was the highest-selling full-length country album this year, and also the best-selling country debut week.

The 12-track project was produced by Luke Combs, Chip Matthews and Jonathan Singleton, and features the chart-topping hits, “Doin’ This,” “The Kind Of Love We Make,” as well as “Outrunnin’ Your Memory,” a duet with Miranda Lambert, among several others.

This new collection came just in time for the start of Combs’ Middle Of Somewhere Tour, which wrapped up on Saturday (Dec. 10) in Oklahoma, City, OK. On select dates, this trek will feature special guests Lainey Wilkinson, Jordan Davis, Morgan Wade.
