Flint, MI – Celebrity tattoo artists Kyle Dunbar and Big Ceeze, renowned participants from the hit show “Ink Master,” will join the Tattoo City Convention lineup this weekend. The event, hosted at the Dort Financial Center, will feature exceptional tattooing by industry stars, including unique contests, a mankini competition, the Ms. Tattoo City pageant, live human suspension shows, and much more.

Another celebrity artist, Marshall Bennett, will join dozens of other well-known tattoo artists from across the industry. The highlight of the convention is the $10,000 prize for Best in Show, which attracts some of the nation’s top tattoo artists to compete in this three-day extravaganza. This year marks the event’s second time offering the substantial cash prize, following the initial year when a Harley-Davidson motorcycle was the coveted reward.

The convention schedule is 2 p.m. to 11 p.m. on Friday, August 11, 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Saturday, August 12, and 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Sunday, August 13. Tickets can be purchased online or at the door. Options include a $25 one-day pass or a $60 three-day pass.

Travis Crossley, President of Tattoo City, emphasized the convention’s goal of breaking stereotypes and promoting a positive perception of tattooing. In addition to showcasing the artistry involved, the event aims to raise awareness and welcome people into the tattoo culture.

“We want to show people what tattooing is really about as opposed to what people think it’s about,” Crossley stated.

The convention boasts an array of activities, from tattooing and piercing contests to the intriguing mankini contest, the Ms. Tattoo City competition, and a live human suspension show. With the highest per capita allotment of tattoo shops in Michigan, Flint stands out as a thriving hub for tattoo culture, aiming to reshape its narrative and challenge preconceived notions about the city.

Hundreds of artists will offer on-the-spot tattoo experiences, including flash tattoos, custom pieces, and portraits. A new addition to this year’s event is a Kids Zone, which provides a family-friendly atmosphere with face painting, arts and crafts, temporary tattoos, and interactive games. Children 12 and under enjoy free admission to the convention.

As Flint’s Tattoo City Convention continues to evolve, it remains a testament to its rich tattoo culture and a platform for showcasing the tattooing profession’s artistry, diversity, and positive aspects.
