Breaking Skin Tattoo and Body Piercing in Bridgeport will host the highly anticipated third annual Resurrection Island Tattoo Convention. This spectacular event will occur at the Wheeling Island Casino-Hotel-Racetrack from Friday, October 13, to Sunday, October 15. The convention promises to showcase the talents of over 150 tattoo artists across the United States.
The Resurrection Island Tattoo Convention invites the public to join in the festivities, with doors open from noon to midnight on Friday and Saturday and from noon to 7 p.m. on Sunday. Admission costs $25 per day or $50 for a weekend pass, available exclusively online at resurrectionislandtattoo.com. Moreover, discounted day wristbands are currently available online, making getting inked or enjoying the experience more accessible. Importantly, this is an all-ages event, and children under 12 are granted free admission, ensuring a family-friendly atmosphere.
Lexie Lopez, Convention Coordinator, shared the excitement about this year’s expansion, made possible by the incredible support from the community over the last two years: “We are so excited that we have added a new area that includes more vendors and artists!”
The convention promises a thrilling display of artistry and ink, with notable tattoo artists like Madison Labelle and Joe Capone of Ink Masters taking the stage. For enthusiasts seeking unique artwork, several artists will offer walk-up availability with a wide range of tattoo designs. If a custom piece is desired, attendees can arrange a consultation and appointment with their chosen artist before the event. The convention’s website lists all attending artists with samples of their impressive work.
In addition to the tattooing spectacle, the weekend will be filled with entertaining acts included with your entry ticket. Friday evening will feature the local favorite, Tongue N’ Cheek. On Saturday, the metal band NeverWake will rock the stage, followed by a closing performance from Theriaca on Sunday. Attendees will also be treated to an array of extraordinary entertainers daily, from sword swallowing to a suspension team, not to mention the captivating Las Vegas burlesque show by Cervena Fox.
Dennis Gilbert, the owner of Breaking Skin Tattoo, expressed his vision for the convention: “I wanted to bring awareness of the professionalism and aseptic techniques of the tattoo industry to the Ohio Valley. Tattooing has become a prevalent form of self-expression and has become more accepted. Hosting this convention is a way of showcasing the various styles of this art under one roof while allowing the community to watch the process and become a part of it with nationally known artists.”
For those passionate about tattoo art, it doesn’t stop at the convention. The Wheeling Island Casino-Hotel-Racetrack offers a chance to win five $400 gift cards to Breaking Skin Tattoo & Body Piercing, with a grand prize of a $1,500 gift card to Joe Capone Tattoos. Players can earn entries by accumulating 100 base points in slots or table games through October 14, with the chance to earn up to three entries daily from Sunday to Thursday and one entry daily on Friday and Saturday.
